Dr Tammary Chepkoech Esho


Dr. Esho is a clinical sexologist and family therapist, with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (2012). She is also a Lecturer in Community and Public Health at the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi. She lectures on a broad range of topics in community and public heath, including on sexual and reproductive health, harmful traditional practices and especially the practices that adversely affect female sexuality such as FGM/C in various communities.

Her scholarly pursuits include the study of the psychosexual consequences of female genital cutting among the Maasai ethnic group of Kenya. In her various research and training engagements, she participated in studies with women as well as men especially with regards to the perpetuation of FGM/C, and the role that men play in the Maasai community in the perpetuation of this practice. With specific interest has been the sexual experiences of men married to women who have undergone FGM/C.
