Professor Violet Nyambura Kimani


A Social-Sciences Specialist in Public Health and has worked with the University of Nairobi for forty two years. She is also a medical sociologist with thirty years teaching experience at the University of Nairobi, starting as an assistant lecturer in September 1975 and rising to the position of full professor.  She has served as Chair, Department of Community Health for a three-year term from March 2001 to February 2004.

Prof Kimani has supervised over fifty Masters’ thesis in Public Health (MPH) and other areas touching on behaviour and health and public health. She has also supervised to completion four PhD thesis and currently supervising another two.  In addition, she conducted many research studies individually and jointly with others and published widely in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters
